Stampin Friends April 2024 Blog Hop - All about the Flowers

Well, my birthday month has come and just about gone.  The best way to end it, is with a blog hop of course!  This month we are sharing ideas with a floral theme, hence “All About the Flowers”.  It was so hard to choose just one card, but I was able to narrow it down and what I went with is an alternative card using Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Pumpkin March 2024 kit.  You can actually make this card with any DSP, but I just wanted to show you first, how amazing these kits are and second, how easy it is to make alternatives.  

Alternative Cards

MATERIALS NEEDED

Stamp Set: March Paper Pumpkin – Memorable Meadows

Paper:

Basic White CS: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”

Fresh Freesia CS: 4 5/8” x 4” (cut down into three equal pieces of 4 ¼” x 1 3/8”)

Basic White CS: scraps

Designer Series Paper (DSP): 4 1/8” x 3 ¾”

Ink: Garden Green; Fresh Freesia

Tools/Accessories: Modern Oval Punch sequins

 

Lately, it seems the Paper Pumpkin kits come with card bases that are printed on the front and back of a folded card.  Well, I think that is silly to waste such pretty paper to be the back of a card.  What I have been doing is slicing the card in half and using one half to make the card as they intended and a second card as an alternative.  My design today is using the card base cut in half as my DSP, this will be an alternative card you can make.

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Use the scoring board to score a 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of basic white cardstock along the long side at 4 ¼”.  Fold in half to create the base.

Step 2: Adhere the fresh freesia card stock to the center of the card base.

Step 3: Adhere the three strips of DSP onto the fresh freesia.  If you struggle to place all the pieces equal distance, I find it easier to first place the outside pieces, then the center.  

Step 4: Stamp the sentiment in garden green ink on a piece of scrap basic white card stock. Punch this out using the modern oval punch.  Then sponge the edge with fresh freesia ink.  Using the same ink, stamp a flower towards the right hand side of the punched oval.  Adhere this to the card front with dimensionals.

Step 5: Next embellish the card front with sequins.

I can’t believe it is time to start hopping again!  I have so much doing this every month and I hope you enjoy hopping along with us!  This year, as in past years, we will have a new theme each month.  Some months we will be showcasing cards and other months we will have a greeting card along with a 3D item.  So lets….GeT…..ReADy..tO…CREATE!!!!

This month we are showcasing cards that are about celebrating Life’s Special Occasions.  The Occasion I chose was celebrating the birth of a new baby!  I found it’s never a bad idea having a few baby cards on hand. MATERIALS NEEDED

Stamp Set: Cradled in Love

Paper: Basic White CS (4 1/4x11”) scored at 5 ½” and 6 ½”

Shimmer White CS (scraps)

Flight & Airy 12”x12” DSP (4 ¼” x 4” and 4 ¼” x 1”)

Ink: StazOn; Calypso Coral Light & Dark Stampin’ Blends

Tools/Accessories: Deckled Circle Dies; Purple Fine Shimmer Gems; Classic Label Punch; Calypso Coral Ribbon; Wobbles 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. I used the book fold technique for this card. The card base is basic white folded in half, then it gets folded the opposite way at the second score line.  I adhered the 1” section between the center score and 1” score line together.  This now gives me a square(ish) section to work with for my major image.  NOTE: If you make your second score at 6 ¾” you will have a perfect square).
2. 
   I adhered the 1” strip to the left of the card front and the 4 ¼” x 4” piece of DSP to the “square” section.
3. I then died cut a circle ring out of shimmer white card stock using the deckled circle die that measured 3 ¼” and the second circle after that which was just under 4”.  I adhered this to the center.
4. I stamped the crib image on shimmer white card stock with StazOn.  I then colored it in with calypso coral stampin’ blends.
5. I fussy cut it out and adhered it to the center of the circle using a wobble.  Believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever made a card with a wobble.  So Much Fun!
6. I then stamped the sentiment also on shimmer white card stock and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch.  I adhered this to the card front with dimensionals.
7. Lastly, I embellished the card front with purple fine shimmer gems.

Stampin Friends August 2023 Blog Hop - All About the Paper

It is mid-August which means Christmas is ONLY four months away, just thought you needed a heads up, lol.  Although I did not make any Holiday projects for this hop, you can easily substitute Holiday paper for the projects.  

Our August blog hop is “All About the Paper”.  With so many paper designs Stampin’ Up! releases it is very difficult to not become a paper hoarder!  Raise your hand if you have stacks and stacks of patterned paper still wrapped tightly in their packaging!  Yup, guilty here as well.  It is just so pretty that I don’t want to “waste” it!  You’ll notice I used similar paper in a previous Blog Hop, that is because I have made it a rule to use what I do have and haven’t purchased to many ‘NEW” papers with this new catalog.  This was also a great way to show how versatile our papers are

CARD: Petal Pink (5 ½” x 8 ¼”), scored at 4 ¼”)(card base)
CARD: Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper (DSP) - (3: 1 ¾” x 1 ¾”); (2: 1 ½” x 1 ½”)
CARD: All Together DSP (retired) (1: 1 ½” x 1 ½”)
ORIGAMI: (7 ½” x 7 ½”)
CARD: Basic White (3 ¾” x 5”); (Scraps for stamping)
CARD: Basic Black (4” x 5 ¼”);
Ink:
Momento Black and Basic Gray
Tools/Accessories: Crafting with you Dies; Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder

INSTRUCTIONS

1.   Today’s card I started with a base of petal pink cardstock, layered with a 4” x 5 ¼ ” piece of basic black cardstock.

2.   The next layer is a piece of 3 ¾” x 5” piece of basic white cardstock.  I stamped the sentimate randomly in momento black ink and then embossed it with Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder.

3.   I cut three, 1 ¾” squares out of Les Shoppes DSP paper and three more 1 ½” squares out of a different pattern.  I adhered them on top of each other and placed them on the card with dimensionals.

4.   To finish off the card, I stamp the image of the Stampin’ Cut & Embossing Machine along with the artist tools on basic white cardstock.  I used colored pencil to color them in with.  These were die cut out and adhered to the card front.

                  

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 For my 3D project I made an origami “box” to hold a succulent plant.  All you need for this a piece of 7 ½” x 7 ½” piece of DSP. We learned how to make these at my May Day Craft Celebration.  After I made the box, I placed a small dessert plate that I found at the Dollar Tree in the center.  This way you can water your succulent without ruining your holder. Stampin Friends July 2023 Blog Hop - Perfectly Punched

I hope your Summer is going wonderfully, that is if it is Summer where you are.  We, in New England have finally got the heat and Humidity.  Most people hate this weather, but not me!  It doesn’t last long here, so I will take all that days of it that is given to me.

Our July blog hop is all about “Perfectly Punched”.  What I am gathering from this topic is that it can be anything that uses a hand help punch.  It seems lately, there are not too many of them, with the cricket and metal dies.  I however, prefer punches over the others.  They are easy to use, and people share them very well in a class setting, lol.  I was also happy that this was a topic for the hops because I have a few of them that have never been used.  So today, I am using Happy Hedgehog stamp set and coordinating punch. MATERIALS NEEDED

Stamp Sets: Happy Hedgehog Bundle; Color & Contour; Petal Park Bundle

Paper:  Copper Clay CS (5 ½” x 8 ¼”), scored at 4 ¼”)

Fresh As a Daisy Designer Series Paper (DSP) (4” x 5 ¼”)

Basic White (3 ¾” x 5”); ( 5 1/4” x 4”); (Scraps for stamping and punching)

Ink:  Basic Grey; Pecan Pie, Colypso Coral; Petal Pink; Momento Black

Tools/Accessories:   Picture This Dies (R); Adhesive Backed Solid Gems; Liquid Enamel Dots

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.    Today’s card I started with a base of copper clay cardstock, layered with a 3 ¾” x 5” piece of very vanilla cardstock.  I stamped the speckled image from Color & Contour in Old Olive ink and used the stamp off method to lighten the color a little.

2.    The next layer is a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” Fresh as a Daisy DSP.  I die cut the circles in the DSP using the Picture This die.  We can set this aside and work on the rest of the card.

3.    On basic white cardstock, stamp all the images needed.  I stamped two sets of flowers from Petal Park.  I used the colors calypso coral for the outlines and petal pick for the fill.  I stamped three mushrooms, two small hedgehogs and one big hedgehog from the stamp set Happy Hedgehogs.  I also stamped my sentiment in basic black.

4.    I used the stampin blends for most of my coloring.  (Sadly, I have not mastered the shading techniques with these markers.  I really need to practice that).

5.    All the pieces were fussy cut except for the large hedgehog.  The one thing I did want to note about punching out the hedgehog, is if you stamp the image twice you can make him 3-D with the punch!  I seen this technique from Tracy Elsom.  What you do is punch a full hedgehog and then just the top part.  Using the tool with the ball at the end you roll it around the smaller piece to create a pocket.  Fill this pocket with a small piece cotton balls.  Then attach it to the full punched hedgehog.  Isn’t it the cutest?

   

 

 

 

   

6.    When all of my pieces were completed, I then placed them onto the card base.  All the hedgehogs and the sentiment were adhered with dimensionals and the other pieces with double sided adhesive.

7.    Lastly, I embellished the flowers with adhesive backed solid gems and dotted the mushrooms with enamel dots.  (These are so easy and fun to use!  I am so happy Stampin’ Up! isn’t coming out with more colors)

April showers bring May flowers and that is what we are getting ready for today in our blog hop, all about flowers.

I would like to believe I have a green thumb but nope, not me.  The flowers that do survive are purposely planted for that.  They are low maintenance and come back every year.  I do have a fascination for daisies but am hesitant to plant any.  Usually when I plant a new flower, either the deer or chipmunks eat the seeds and or early greenery, grrr.  The only way to enjoy daisies is via crafting with stamps, lol, so that is what I choose for today’s Hop.

I know WE all have an incredibly huge inventory of floral stamp sets. So, my dilemma was do I use things that will retire or Brand Spanking NEW items from the new catalog??  I chose the first option because sadly I still have things that haven’t been used yet. 

 

MATERIALS NEEDED

Stamp Set: Nature’s Harvest & Flowering Tulips
Paper: Sweet Sorbet CS (5 ½” x 8 ¼”, scored at 4 ¼”; scraps)

Basic White CS (4 ¼” x 5 ½”; 1” x 2 5/8”; sceaps)
Basic Black (scraps)
Pretty Prints DSP (5 ½” x 4 ¼”)

Ink: Sweet Sorbet; Momento Black
Tools/Accessories: Harvest Dies; Meadow Dies; Deckled Rectangles Dies; Happy Labels Pick A Punch; Fern 3D Embossing Folder; Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels

1. First, fold in half the card base and adhere the 5 ½” x 4 ¼” Pretty Prints DSP to the front.
2. Die cut some of the silhouette images from the meadow dies in basic black cs adhere to the center of the card. Then die cut one image from the harvest dies set in sweet sorbet and adhere on top of the black pieces.
3. Stamp the major flower image in sweet sorbet onto basic white cs and die but out.  Set this aside.
4. Die cut a frame using the largest deckled rectangle die and the second size smaller that the largest one.  This will give it a thicker frame.  I then used the Fern 3D folder to give it some texture.  Adhere this frame to the center of the card with dimensionals.  NOTE: If there are any pieces hanging out of the frame, go ahead and trim those now.
5. Next adhere the stamped flower image towards the left of the frame.  Be sure to
   have some of the flower piece overhang the frame.
6. I then stamped the sentiment “Love You so much” on basic white cs with momento black ink. I made sure the piece I stamped on was 1” x 3”.  Next punch each end using the Happy Labels Pick A Punch.
7. Lastly, I embellished the the card front with champagne basic rhinestones.

 

I really enjoyed putting this card together it can be used for just about any event.
