Stampin Friends February 2024 Blog Hop - Fabulous Fun-Fold and 3-D Project!

Welcome to another year of Stampin Friends Blog Hop!

Welp, that was the longest January and shortest February I’ve ever seen.  Today let’s slow it down with some fun with our monthly Blog Hop showcasing fun fold cards and 3D items. This month’s blog hop was such a fun one which brought me out of my comfort zone.

If you are following along the hop, you have arrived from Maureen’s blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue to Steph’s blog.

If you get lost along the way, no worries, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog. ENJOY!

Just a reminder, less than a week to go for Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration sale!  So for every $50 you spend in product and can select a FREE item from their Sale-A-Bration Catalog, win, win! This month also my projects use the FREE DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, Flight & Airy.

I was looking for a fun fold card I hadn’t seen before and stumbled upon the Bay Window Card on Splitcoaststampers.  If you haven’t heard of this site, run as fast as your fingers can type and check it out.  This site is FULL of everything paper craft!!!  You will not be disappointed.  Any hoot, this is where I found the card and will borrow their instructions for this card.  Also, to coordinate with the card, I wanted something with a similar fold, so again on this site I searched for boxes with six sides.  They did not fail.  They had a Hexagon Punch Board Box.  I do not own a candy box punch board, but I do own the candy wrapper die from Sizzix, so I improvised, and it totally worked.  Again, if you do have the candy punch board, check out their instructions as to how to make their version.

INSTRUCTIONS – Bay Window Card by Mary Deatherage
*

Step 1: Use the scoring board to score a 4 1/4” x 11” piece of cardstock along the long side at 1/4”, 1 1/2”, 3 1/4”, 4 1/2” and 5 1/2”.  Fold all but the 1/4” score line in the same direction to create the “bay window” base. Fold the 1/4” score line the opposite direction to create the “tab” at the end. The end result will look like this

Step 2: Use adhesive just between the 4 1/2” and 5 1/2” score lines– only in that 1” area. Use the adhesive to adhere the front panel to the back (this will look like a book fold).

*
Step 3: Adhere one 7/8” x 4 1/8” piece of DSP to the corresponding panel on the card base. Do not adhere the second strip, yet.  Adhere both 1 1/8” x 4 1/8” pieces of DSP to the corresponding panels.  Lastly, adhere the 1 5/8” x 4 1/8” piece to its corresponding panel (center panel).

Step 4: On the second 7/8” x 4 1/8” piece of DSP, apply dimensionals on one side only going down the long edge. See image.  Adhere this to the inside of the card base all the way to the right-hand side.  The tab will now slip under the end panel to hold the “bay window” in place.

Step 5: Adhere the 3 3/8” x 4 1/8” piece of white cardstock to the inside of the card base.

Step 6: Decorate the front of the card as desired, I used the Excellent Eggs to get a head start on my Easter cards and goodies.

INSTRUCTIONS – Hexagon Candy Box taken from Hexagon Punch Board Box by Regina Andari

Step 1:  The Candy Wrapper Die only has four panels, so you will need to cut two pieces.
Keep one whole piece that has four panels and trim two full panels from the second piece. Be sure to keep the “tab” on the second piece as well, this will be used to adhere the two pieces together.

*
Step 2: Use scissors to cut all the vertical score lines below the lower score line to create the bottom flaps for the box. The 1/2" section on the end can be removed as shown in the photo.

Step 3: Place adhesive on the “tabs” and fold it inward, then adhere it to the second sheet.  Place adhesive to the second “tab” and bring the other side of the paper so that it lays on top of the adhesive strip and press together. Carefully pinch the scored line at the top of the paper to shape it.

Step 4: To close the bottom of the box, place adhesive on one of the flaps and then adhere it to the flap that’s directly across from it. Continue the process until all flaps have been adhered.

*

Optional: Adhere a 2 1/2" die cut circle to the bottom of the box to close in and secure the bottom. Decorate the box as desired.

I hope you’ll give these projects a shot.  They seem more difficult than they are to create.  Hope I was able to pull you out of your comfort zone to try something new.  I can’t wait to share a lot more with you this coming year!!  Be sure to check back regularly.  I really love sharing my projects with my stampin’ friends!  Comments of any kind (well hopefully nice ones, lol) are greatly appreciated.  When you are done here, be sure to hop on over to Steph’s page!!

See you next month!

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INFRINGEMENT ACTIONS

Just an FYI: Stampin’ Up! continually battles theft of our intellectual property in the form of knock-off stamp sets being sold through various online platforms. Thus far in 2023 our ongoing efforts have resulted in 73,398 infringing stamp sets being removed from various e-commerce sites.

We also recently became aware that Dollar Tree is selling stamp sets created using our copyrighted artwork in their retail shops in the United States and Canada, and we have commenced aggressive legal action to stop them from selling these counterfeit products.

We are grateful for your ongoing help in identifying counterfeit products, including those found at Dollar Tree or any other physical retail location, and reporting them to us at infringements@stampinup.com.
