Stampin Friends May Bog Hop - Masculine!!

I'm Back........
Welcome to another installment Stampin Friends Blog Hop!

Happy May!!! This month it is all about masculine cards and projects!
It seems we never make enough of these things.  Some how it is so much easier to create for women and kids.  So I hope you enjoy what I came up with and are able to make a few to keep in your stash!

If you are following along the hop, you have arrived from Teri's blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue to Steph's blog. If you get lost along the way, no worries, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog.

ENJOY!

So I decided every guy can use a journal right??  And check out this manly looking Designer Series Paper and stamp set.  I used all the same paper, stamps and ink for both pieces.

SUPPLIES:
Stamp Set/Dies: Beautiful World Bundle
Ink: Misty Moonlight, Momento Black
Paper: Misty Moonlight, Merry Merlot, Basic White, Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP), Metallic Gold & Black (not stampin' up!)

For the card I followed along a card template.  These are great for when you are stuck with a layout.
  1. The card base is Merry Merlot CS (8.5"x5.5")
  2. The first layer is Misty Moonlight CS (4"x5.25")
  3. Next I cut 2.25" square, diagonally and adhered them in the opposite corners.
  4. My focal point is a piece of Merry Merlot CS (2.5"x3.25") with a piece of Basic White CS (2.25"x3") layered on top.  The basic white is stamped with the sentiment "Adventure Awaits" in Misty Moonlight ink.
  5. To finish off the card I die cut the background for the globe out of Misty
Moonlight CS.  The globe is die cut out of metallic black cs and the base for the global is metallic gold.
  6. For this card I also added the ink well and feather inside the card.

The masculine project I made most would find out of the norm, a journal.  But there are plenty males out there are like to wright and keep track of things and what a better way to do that than with their very own personalized journal!  I found these journals last year on Amazon.  They have lined paper and the over all size is 6"x8.25".  They were to be used for my May Day Craft Celebration last year, but you all know the story already, lol.

  1.  The first thing I made for my journal was a pen holder.  I cut a piece of DSP 2.5"x4".  I folded this down to 1.25"x4".
  2. I then placed my pen in the center folded the DSP around it to make a loop.  I place tear tape wear the ends meet.  This gives me enough room for the pen to slide in and out.
  3. For the journal I covered the front and back with Beauty of the Earth DSP (5.25"x8.25").
  4. The spine is a piece of 2.25"x8.25", stamped with the swirls from the stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink.  I folded this piece in half, then glued it in place.
  5. To give it more style, I added a strip of Merry Merlot overlapping the spine and cover.
  6. Lastly, I decorated the front with with the sentiment "Life's A Beautiful Journey", you could easily personalize this piece with a persons name.  Then added a globe with a stand using the same card stock as in the card, along with an ink well and feather.

As I type this, I think these would make for some awesome teacher gifts also...it is that time of year already!

It was great to be back and participate in this Blog Hop this month, I missed you all.  Can't wait to share what I have for you next month!  So if you are following along, please be sure to HOP on over to Steph's page next and visit everyone on the HOP!
There are some pretty amazing and creative things to see.
