Stampin Friends August Blog Hop - All About the Paper!

Oh My…it is the end of August, where has the Summer gone???   On another note…who doesn’t like patterned paper, or Designer Series Paper???  I for one am a paper hoarder. Yes, I will happily admit it, I have a patterned paper obsession!  So, when this month’s topic appeared I wanted to make something and use up some paper.  I also wanted to make something I haven’t really seen before, and I had never made!  What I ended up finding is a party favor from Qbees Quest!.  She made this back in 2011…so yeah I hadn’t really seen something like this lately.

Now, grab a drink and a snack and sit back and check out this projects in Stampin Friends Blog Hop.  As you are following along on the hop you may have arrived from Steph’s blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue on to Melissa’s blog.  If you get lost along the way, no worries, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog.

Sorry for using the same paper in this project, as in a previous project, but when something is that awesome, it is really hard not to go to it often.

For my card, I CASE’d from Chasing Joy Boutique.  I ordered this bundle because I fell in love with the dies…then I realized I still haven’t used the dies nor the stamp set.  How many of you have done this?  I know this isn’t my first time, and I won’t even mention how many of my stamps or dies are still brand new!

Materials you will need for the card:

Hippo Happiness Stamp Set

Hippo & Friends Dies

Basic White Card Stock (cs)

Hand-Penned DSP

Mint Macaron Ink

Soft Sea Form Ink

Momento Black Ink

Basic Instructions:

1.    I started with 8 ½”x5 ½” basic white cs as my base.  I layered a 4”x5 ¼” piece of Hand-Penned DSP to the card base.

2.    Next using the two smallest “circular” label dies, I cut the smallest out of basic white cs and the next size up out of DSP.  I layered these on the card base with dimensionals.

3.    I stamped the cute hippo with soft sea foam and mint macaron ink.  I die cut him out and adhered him to the center of the white circular label die.

4.    Next, I stamped the sentiment in mint macaron ink onto a piece of ½” x 3” basic white cs.  Then I banner cut the edges.

I think this is one of the easiest cards I’ve made in quite some time!  Next, still fairly easy, but a few more steps, is the really neat umbrella party favor!  Isn’t it so freakin’ cute!  I’ve put together a few baby showers lately and now I can’t wait for the next one to make these!

Materials you will need for the favor

Love of Leaves Stamp Set

Hippo & Friends Dies

4 ½” Scallop Circle Punch or Die

Extra Large Oval Punch

Misty Midnight Card Stock (cs)

Hand-Penned DSP

Mint Macaron Ink

Soft Sea Form Ink

Momento Black Ink

Basic Instructions:

1.    First, we will make the handle.  Lucky for us Qbees Quest has a pdf file with five handles printed on it.  You can do one of two things, either print the page on cardstock and trim out.  Or print the page on white paper/card stock to create a template.  Here is the link for the template.

2.    Next is the Umbrella: Cut a piece of DSP with a scallop circle die or punch that measures about 4 ½”.  (I used the very old circle scallop chunky die).  Cut the circle in half.

3.    Use a 2” oval punch to punch three pieces out of the flat part of the circle.  (I used the retired extra large oval punch for this).

4.     Next, I made the box out of a 6”x3” piece of dsp.  If I were to make these for favors, I would use card stock for this.  It will make the favor box sturdier.  Then, on the 6” side, score at 2 ¼” and 3 ¾”. On the 3” side, score in ½” on both sides.

5.     Cut along the scored lines on both of the long sides, just until you reach the first score
line going in the opposite direction.  Angle cut the corners. (as in image).

6.     Place sticky strip on all six tabs. Make sure middle tab has sticky strip close to the edge (otherwise some of the adhesive will show through).

7.     Remove the lining of the sticky strip on the middle tab. Adhere the scallop circles as shown. Make sure the decorated side is facing up.  Remove the rest of the sticky strip liner and adhere edges to form box.

8.    Adhere the handle to the inside of the box with sticky strip.

9.    Then I made a tag to go with the favor box, by using the two smallest “rectangle” label dies from the Hippo & Friends Die set.  The larger label was die cut out of DSP.  For the smaller label I used basic white cs.  I stamped the words “thank you” is mint macaron ink.  The sentiment came from Love of Leaves stamp set.

10. I adhered the tag to the umbrella handle and also added a cute little hippo to it.

This was my way of showcasing Stampin’ Up!’a one of a kind DSP!  If you haven’t purchased their DSP paper before, don’t start now (lol).  If you do, you will become a paper hoarder JUST LIKE ME!

I hope you enjoyed my All About Paper card and project!  It’s always fun to make something you have never made before!  I am looking forward to sharing a lot more with you the rest of this year!!  Comments of any kind (well hopefully nice ones, lol) are greatly appreciated. Stampin Friends July Blog Hop - Just Rewind & Redo!

Welcome to the Stampin Friends Blog Hop!

Wow, can you believe it is already July? Where has the year gone? It is a rewind, redo hop, I think it is kind of fitting seeing as time is just flying by!   This was a fun hop because it made me go through ALL of my projects and decide on just one (for now) to redo using all new product.  I decided to go back almost 10 years and redo one of my favorite mini scrapbooks, the Match Book Scrapbook.  Don’t be alarmed, you won’t be on this page forever, it’s not that big of scrapbook.

If you are following along on the hop you have arrived from Melissa’s blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue on to Steph’s blog.  If you get lost along the way, no worries, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog.

ENJOY!

I made this Match Book Scrapbook for our Hot Air Ballon Festival trip with my parents. I can’t believe it has already been 9 years ago since we were there.  It was something my Mom and Dad were very excited for, until we get there and there are no hot air balloons being released that day, bummer.  The weather wasn’t cooperating, so they grounded balloons and never brought them out.  So I guess, a rewind redo trip is order. :-)

OK, back to stampin' fun.  I made this card using memories and more card pack.  I've used them in the past and thought this would be a great rewind, redo card.

To make my projects I used some products from the Hand Penned Suite from Stampn’ Up!’ & and the stamp set is Forever Fern.

Friend Card

MATERIALS NEEDED

Stamp Set/Dies: Forever Fern; Basic Borders Dies

Paper: Whisper White (5 ½”x8 ½”); Highland Heather (4 1/8”x5 3/8”); Evening Evergreen (1/2”x5 3/8”) Hand-Penned Memories and More Card Pack daisy image (4 1/8”x3 ½”)

Accessories: Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder; Genial Gems; Bumblebee Trinkets

Ink: Evening Evergreen

If you are ever in need for a quick card, don’t forget you can always use cards from memories & more card pack.  Here is how easily this went together.

  1. Run the highland heather cardstock through the Big Shot with the ornate floral 3D folder.  Adhere this to the card base.
  2. Stamp your sentiment on the card of your choice. I used the daisy printed card.  This will be the front of your card.
  3. Next, on the same card as above, I die cut a fun border at the bottom using one of the dies from Basic Borders Dies. Then I adhered a strip of the evening evergreen cardstock to the back of the card, to bring out the border detail. This whole piece gets adhered to the card base with dimensionsals.
  4. Lastly, I embellished the card front with a bumblebee trinket and genial gems.

If you think that was easy, check out how easy it is to make a mini-scrapbook!

Matchbook Scrapbook

This is such a quick and easy scrapbook to put together, especially using memories and more card packs!  Let’s get started, shall we.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Paper: Pale Papaya (10” ½”4 1/4”); Highland Heather, Mint Macaron, Blushing Bride (4”x4”); Mint Macaron (2 ½”x3”) Hand-Penned Memories and More Card Pack (3 – 4”x6” cards” and 3-3”x4”); Hand Penned DSP (2 - ½” x4”; 4”x4 ½”)

Accessories: Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder; Tasteful Textile Embossing folder, Subtle Embossing Folder, Old World Paper Embossing Folder and Genial Gems; Bumblebee Trinkets

  1. To make the matchbook cover, cut a piece of cardstock 4 ¼”x10”.  Then score at 1”, 5 ½”; 5 7/8”. Fold at all the scores, to make a matchbook. At the 1” flap, staple the flap below the halfway mark.  This way you can tuck the cover behind the flap to resemble a matchbook.
  2. I then decorated the matchbook, using various prints of Hand-Penned DSP and left-over piece of the memories and more card pack.  If you know me, I am very frugal and when I cut up things, I like to use as much of it as possible to embellish.
  3. To make the pages, I used two cards from the memories and more pack, trimmed to be 4”x4”.  The other pages are made from highland heather, mint macaron and blushing bride cardstock, all cut to 4”x4”.
  4. The memories and more pages, I just left as is.  There are some nice sentiments on them, so why cover it up.  And one of the cards will be great for journaling. However, on the other side of these cards, is where I will place my picture.  On some of these I did use some left-over pieces to dress them up a little.
  5. For the cardstock pages, I first ran them through the Big Shot with embossing folders.  I can’t believe I never thought of that for picture mats.  Also, on two of those pages, I used more cards from the memories and more card pack.  I tried to choose cards that will add to the meaning of the book with phrases and that will be perfect for journaling!  Again, the blank side is where I will place my pictures.
  6. Lastly, which I have started but didn’t finish, is accessorizing the pages, to do this I used scrap pieces of DSP, once the journaling and pictures get added, I will add some bumblebee trinkets and gems.

I hope you enjoyed my rewind re-do project!  It’s always fun to spruce up an old project!  I am looking forward to sharing a lot more with you the rest of this year!!  Comments of any kind (well hopefully nice ones, lol) are greatly appreciated. When you are done here be sure to hop on over to the next blogger on the list!

Stampin Friends June Blog Hop - Dream in In Colors!

Yippeeee, It is officially Summer here in the states!!! Have I mentioned I LOVE the heat!  I honestly don't think we get enough of it!!!  This month we are not focusing on "heat" for our Blog Hop instead we are focusing on Stampin' Up!'s collection of NEW In Colors!!
I just don't know how they keep coming up with NEW and beautiful colors!
For my projects I focused on three of the new In Colors: Pale Papaya; Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen.

If you are following along the hop, you have arrived from Maureen's blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue to Heidi's blog. If you get lost along the way, no worries, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog.

ENJOY!!!

As stated above, I just love the Summer and with it, all of the beautiful flowers that bloom!  One of my favorites are pansies!  They come in such a variety of colors it's hard not to love them.  So I decided to use the Pansy Patch stamp set along with the Pansy dies for my projects this month.

SUPPLIES:
Pansy Patch stamp set
Pansy Dies
Stitched Shapes Dies
Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Pale Papaya card stock
Soft Succulent card stock
Evening Evergreen ink.

For the card, I used another card template to follow.  I am getting more comfortable using these and it makes card making so much easier!  The layout is there, you just apply a "Suite" to it and voilà you are done!

  1.  Card Base = basic white 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
  2.  First layer = Pale Papaya 4" x 5 1/4" which I ran through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine using the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder.
  3. The next layer is a 2 3/4" x 3 3/8" piece of the DSP from the Pansy Petals pack.
  4. I also used a piece of DSP from the same pack of paper for the next layer, which is 5/8" x 4".
  5. To finish off the card I used the approximately 2" stitched circle to cut a piece of basic white card stock and stamped the sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set.
  6. Lastly, I die cut some of the pansies from the DSP to decorate the card front.
I just love how Stampin' Up! coordinates some of their DSP sheets with the dies.  When you are in a pinch it makes card making so quick!

I just can't seem to keep away from "TEA" things!  I love everything about tea, although coffee is my most favorite, but nothing beats a nice cup of tea before bedtime!  Today, I thought I would show you this really neat Tea Wallet!  Never leave home with out your favorite tea again.  I used to always just through the tea bags in my purse or bag.  But by the time I was ready to use them, they looked pretty gross, lol.  So this wallet is an awesome way to hold your bags nice and neatly and clean!  I believe it originally came from Pootles from the UK.  She makes amazing things and this is just one of them I had to try my hand at.

  1. Wallet base is 11" x 3 1/4", I used Soft Succulent card stock for this.  This is scored at 3 1/2", 4 3/4", 8 1/4" and 9 1/2".  I rounded the corners of the box flap where it closes.
  2. I decorated the "wallet" with more DSP from the Pansy Petals collection.   The two larger pieces measure 3" x 3 1/8", the other two pieces used measure 1" x 3 1/8" and 1 5/8" x 3 1/8".
  3. The envelopes are handmade using the envelope maker border.  For these I used old Stampin' Up! catalog pages.  The paper size is 5" x 5" and I followed the 2 3/8" envelope measurement.  To hold the envelopes closed, I used a small flower that I only adhered the bottom to the envelope to leave space to tuck the envelope flap.
To hold the envelopes in the wallet, I used an accordion system to adhere the envelopes to.  This wallet holds four tea bags nicely, however, you could probably add two more envelopes, if you really like to carry a variety of teas with you.
  1. The card stock measures 3" x 2 3/4", I used Pale Papaya.  It is scored at 3/8", 3/4", 1 1/8", 1 1/2", 1 7/8", 2 1/4", 2 5/8".  This gets folded as seen in the photo.  If you need clearer instructions please let me know and I will add them to this post.
  2. Lastly, I added a velcro circle to hold the flap closed and then added another pansy to the front of the wallet.
There you have it, some easy peasy projects for the month of June, because if you are like me, you'd rather be outside enjoying the weather!!

So if you are following along, please be sure to HOP on over to Heidi's page next and visit everyone on the HOP!
There are some pretty amazing and creative things to see.

Stampin Friends May Bog Hop - Masculine!!

I'm Back........
Welcome to another installment Stampin Friends Blog Hop!

Happy May!!! This month it is all about masculine cards and projects!
It seems we never make enough of these things.  Some how it is so much easier to create for women and kids.  So I hope you enjoy what I came up with and are able to make a few to keep in your stash!

If you are following along the hop, you have arrived from Teri's blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue to Steph's blog. If you get lost along the way, no worries, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog.

ENJOY!

So I decided every guy can use a journal right??  And check out this manly looking Designer Series Paper and stamp set.  I used all the same paper, stamps and ink for both pieces.

SUPPLIES:
Stamp Set/Dies: Beautiful World Bundle
Ink: Misty Moonlight, Momento Black
Paper: Misty Moonlight, Merry Merlot, Basic White, Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP), Metallic Gold & Black (not stampin' up!)

For the card I followed along a card template.  These are great for when you are stuck with a layout.
  1. The card base is Merry Merlot CS (8.5"x5.5")
  2. The first layer is Misty Moonlight CS (4"x5.25")
  3. Next I cut 2.25" square, diagonally and adhered them in the opposite corners.
  4. My focal point is a piece of Merry Merlot CS (2.5"x3.25") with a piece of Basic White CS (2.25"x3") layered on top.  The basic white is stamped with the sentiment "Adventure Awaits" in Misty Moonlight ink.
  5. To finish off the card I die cut the background for the globe out of Misty
Moonlight CS.  The globe is die cut out of metallic black cs and the base for the global is metallic gold.
  6. For this card I also added the ink well and feather inside the card.

The masculine project I made most would find out of the norm, a journal.  But there are plenty males out there are like to wright and keep track of things and what a better way to do that than with their very own personalized journal!  I found these journals last year on Amazon.  They have lined paper and the over all size is 6"x8.25".  They were to be used for my May Day Craft Celebration last year, but you all know the story already, lol.

  1.  The first thing I made for my journal was a pen holder.  I cut a piece of DSP 2.5"x4".  I folded this down to 1.25"x4".
  2. I then placed my pen in the center folded the DSP around it to make a loop.  I place tear tape wear the ends meet.  This gives me enough room for the pen to slide in and out.
  3. For the journal I covered the front and back with Beauty of the Earth DSP (5.25"x8.25").
  4. The spine is a piece of 2.25"x8.25", stamped with the swirls from the stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink.  I folded this piece in half, then glued it in place.
  5. To give it more style, I added a strip of Merry Merlot overlapping the spine and cover.
  6. Lastly, I decorated the front with with the sentiment "Life's A Beautiful Journey", you could easily personalize this piece with a persons name.  Then added a globe with a stand using the same card stock as in the card, along with an ink well and feather.

As I type this, I think these would make for some awesome teacher gifts also...it is that time of year already!

It was great to be back and participate in this Blog Hop this month, I missed you all.  Can't wait to share what I have for you next month!  So if you are following along, please be sure to HOP on over to Steph's page next and visit everyone on the HOP!
There are some pretty amazing and creative things to see.
