Stampin' Friends Blog Hop - Babies!

Welcome to the Stampin Friends Blog Hop!

This month’s theme is Congrats, Grads, Brides & Babies! If you are following along the hop, you have arrived from Barbara Welch's blog. Be sure to read through my blog, comment below and continue to Rachel Rife's blog. If you get lost along the way, you can find a list of Blog Hoppers at the end of each Blog.

Now for my projects, this month I choose to focus on babies.  I've been meaning to try my hand at making a teepee which I had found on Pinterest quite some time ago.  And what a better way to do this, than to make it as a party favor for a baby shower!

Here are my projects:

I used Stampin' Up!'s stamp set A Little Wild, aren't these just the cutest!  The following is the recipes and some instructions of how they came together.

GREETING CARD

SUPPLIES

Stamp Set: A Little Wild
Paper: Whisper White, Soft Seafoam, and Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Series Paper
Ink/Coloring Medium: Momento Black, Crushed Curry and colored pencils
Accessories: Little Loves Framelits, Circles Collection Framelits and Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Card base is 11" x 8 1/2" Soft Seafoam card stock.
  2. The next layer is a piece of Whisper White card stock, 4 1/8"x5 3/8".  I then used the circle framelit sized 3 5/8" and die cut out 3/4 of the circle towards the right hand side.  This then gets passed through the Big Shot with the Pinewood 3D Embossing folder.
  3. Cut a piece of the Twinkle Twinkle DSP to cover up the circle I cut.
  4. On a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock I stamped the bear (both front and back), bee hive and some flowers.  I colored them in with pencils and die cut them out to decorate the circle.
  5. On a piece of 7/8"x2 1/2" Whisper White card stock, I stamped the words and some bees.  To give is some contrast, I sponged the edges with Crushed Curry Ink.
  6. Also, I used snail for everything except the words and the bear, they are attached with dimensionals.
Now how could I make a card with the "A Little Wild" stamp set and not use both sides.  So, as you can see in the photo, I mimicked the outside of the card on the inside of the card, so I could put the "butt" view of the bear.  That will be quite a surprise for the person receiving this card, don't you think.

For my other project other than a card, I tried my hand at a cute teepee that can be used as a party favor for a baby shower or a first birthday!

TEEPEE FAVOR BOX

SUPPLIES

Stamp Set: A Little Wild
Paper: Grey Granite, Whisper White and Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Series Paper
Ink/Coloring Medium: Momento Black and colored pencils
Accessories: Little Loves Framelits, Pyramid Pals Thinlits and large toothpicks

INSTRUCTIONS

    1. I die cut out two pieces of the Pyramid Pals out of Twinkle, Twinkle DSP to create the pyramid box.
    2. Before assembling, I did the following...
    3. I trimmed the point at the top of the pyramid so that the tooth picks had enough space to stick out the top.
    4. On one of the triangles I cut a slit about an inch from the top all the way to the bottom. And I also cut the bottom to the corners so that I could fold back the pieces to make the opening.  I lined the opening with a piece of Grey Granite card stock.
    5. I then glued the toothpicks at each angle of the triangle.
    6. Lastly, I glued it all together to make the triangle box.
    7. To decorate the teepee, I stamped one bear and a bee hive and snailed it to front of the teepee in front of the entrance.
If you are going to fill these with candy, I would use repositionable tape to glue the back panel, opposite the door of the teepee.

      Scrapbook 101 - February 2020

Hello fellow stampers and crafters.  Just doing some catching up on my blog.  At the end of February I hosted my Scrapbook 101 Class.  We made a mini folio which could be used for just about any occasion.  I pretty much copied Candace's Canvases Mini Album.  Here is a link to her video https://youtu.be/7b9aUuTAmwU.  I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was to put together.

The book consists of six 6"x13" designer series paper or any patterned paper you have for the inside pages. Scored at 1", 6" and 11".

The cover is a 6"x12" piece of card stock. Scored at 5", 6" and 7".

The spine is a piece of 2"x6". This is scored at 1".

The inside pages get folded in half and glued just at the bottom to the score line.  This creates a pockets so we can add inserts (yay, room for more pictures and memories).

Then you gather all the inside pages (trim about 1/8" of the open side of the folded pages) and tuck the side with the score fold inside the cover.  So once secured in the cover they all become pockets.

I adhered the spine to the cover and held all the pages together and punched three holes on the spine.  Then I fed some ribbon through and tied a bow to hold the pages in.

Then this is where YOUR creativity takes place.  The inserts I made for the pockets are 4.5"x5.5" or 9"x5.5" and scored at 4.5" to create a folded insert (more space for pictures!).

Other than that, just make more pockets where you want them to add inserts.  Or if you glue a picture on a blank page, you can always turn that into a pocket by not gluing either the top or one of the sides.

If you watch Candace's video right to the end, you can see how she finished it.

The ladies in my class where going to use this for all kinds of things.  One put all her favorite pictures in it, another will use it for memorizing her bridal shower and I may use them to house pictures of my nephews. One young lady had brought pictures to add as she was going along!  They all came out awesome!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my project!
