Stampin Friends June Blog Hop - What's Going On?

Hello fellow crafters, welcome to Stamping Friends Blog Hop. This month we are taking a look at “What’s going on?” It is an open topic which we were able to interpret anyway we liked. I have chosen to feature a new stampin’ bundle, Celebrate Sunflowers! If you are a fan of Sunflowers this is a bundle for you!

My card and project this month can be used for a variety of things, birthday, Mother’s Day, Teacher Gift, a Thank You Gift, but my favorite would be for either a baby or bridal shower favor. I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for new ideas.

Here is a quick glance at the supplies I used to make the card and honey jar holder.

With this new bundle, I can guarantee, you will always make something beautiful with it!

Let’s take a closer look at the greeting card.

Card Instructions:

Card base is made from 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4” So Saffron CS with the edges sponged in Crushed Curry ink.
I cut a piece of the DSP 2 ¼” x 5 ½” and adhered it to a piece of 2 ½” x 5 ½” Early Espresso CS. I then adhered this to the card base.
I die cut the outline of the sunflower in Crushed Curry CS and the solid sunflower in So Saffron CSS. I adhered these two together and set aside.
I then die cut two of the large leaves outlines in Garden Green CS and two large solid leaves in Pear Pizzaz CS. I adhered these two together and attached it to the back of the Sunflower.
I finished off the Sunflower by die cutting the center out of Soft Suede CS and added three Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to the center. This is adhered to the card base over the DSP using dimensionals.
Lastly, I stamped the phrase Lets Celebrate you in Garden Green ink, onto Whisper White CS and sponged the edges with Crushed Curry ink.

The favor portion of my project holds a small jar of honey and comes with a honey spoon. I did use some retired Stampin’ Up! product but when showcasing honey how can you not use their Honey Bee Stamp Set and Detailed Bee Dies!

Mini Honey Jar Holder:

The holder consists of two strips of So Saffron CS sized (A) 2” x 12” and (B) 1 7/8” x 9”. The 2” x 12” is scored at 2”, 3”, 5”, 7”, 9” and 10”. The other piece is scored at 2”, 4 1/16”, 6 1/8” and 8 3/16”.
Take strip A and fold at the score lines, the base is 2” x 2”, with the other 2” panels standing upright.
Next, wrap strip B around the base and secure with tear tape or other strong adhesive. This will resemble a basket.
I then wrapped a piece of In Good Taste DSP (2” x 9”) around the base, using my fingers to crease the edges according to the base we just created. Be sure to secure it in place with tear tape or other strong adhesive.
I then decorated the top panel by stamping the small sunflower image and coloring it in using stampin blends. To highlight the center, I used some fine tip glue which when dried has a little bit of shine to it. I further embellished this with one of sprigs that come in the Sunflower Dies set in soft suede CS and an embellishment from In Good Taste Elements.
The Honey Jar and Honey Spoon is decorated using Honey Bee Stamp set and Dies.

Stampin Friends May Blog Hop - Masculine

Hello fellow crafters, welcome to Stamping Friends Blog Hop. This month we are focusing on Masculine or My Guy type of cards and projects. I am so excited this theme was chosen, I have a Stampin’ Up! Suite which I purchased and haven’t been able to use for my classes because of the pandemic. So this is the perfect place to showcase it! Also, don’t forget, in the US Fathers Day is June 21^st!

I chose the Country Club Suite which can be found on page 47 in the January-June Mini Catalog. If you have golfers in your life this is definitely for you!! Here is a preview of the card and 3D item.

I will need to confess, the background was embossed with the wrong folder. This is what happens when you do not put things away in its place quickly. The background should have been the Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder. Unfortunately, I am not sure what the name is of this embossing folder.

Card Instructions:

Card base is made from 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”.
I then embossed the card front with the embossing folder.
I cut a piece of the DSP 1 ¼” x 5 ½”, I adhered this to the card front with snail towards the left hand side. I took a piece of Poppy parade and Garden Green Twine and first tied a bow, and then cut the hoops. I think this looks more masculine than a bow. I adhered this to the strip of DSP with a glue dot.
I die cut out three gold clubs and spaced them evenly between the DSP and the edge of the card towards the top.
I stamped the sentiment, “You’re The Greatest Guy By Par” in momento black ink onto Garden Green card stock and punched this out using the Tailored Tag Punch. I then went back and stamped the same greeting in Poppy Parade Ink on Whisper White card stock and die cut out the words “Greatest Guy” and adhered it to the Garden Green card stock with dimensionals. This, then went on top of the golf clubs.
Lastly, I stamped the golf ball on Whisper White card stock and colored with Stampin Blends. I adhered this towards the bottom, also using dimensionals.

BTW, who says these Copper Tea Tins can only be used for tea?? For my 3D project I used one of these tins to hold a golf ball, some tees and a gift card. A perfectly wrapped gift for Dad, Husband, Son or male friend.

Stampin Friends April Blog Hop - All about Flowers and Mom

This month we are preparing for a wonderful Holiday here in the US that occurs next month, Mothers Day. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is only fitting that I would use our blog hop theme to celebrate Mom.

I am very fascinated in anything made with paper, so you can bet I was extremely excited when I found a way to make butterflies and flowers out of paper. Actually, if you search Pinterest or the Web you will find a ton of paper flower tutorials, however the flower I made is fairly easy to do. Let’s get to the card and project.

The card has a very delicate look which Stampin’ Up! made very easy to do with their Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards. I layered a piece of Petal Pink cardstock behind the laser cut front panel.

I then die cut the 2” wide Nestled Labels Die out of Very Vanilla card stock and snailed it in the center of the card.

From the stamp set Forever Blossoms, I stamped the large flower image, small flower and double leaf image. I colored them using Stampin’ Up!’s water color pencils and blended them with blender pens. I die cut these images using the coordinating dies from the Cherry Blossoms die set. The large flower image is adhered with dimensionals while the smaller flower image is snailed.

Lastly, I pulled out an old Paper Pumpkin kit for the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment. The kit is April’s 2019 Sentimental Rose. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Sahara Sand card stock in Momento Black ink and then die cut it out using the larger label die from Painted Labels Dies.

I don’t know about your Mom, but my Mom has everything you think of. The best gift for her is usually some flowers and scratch tickets. Yes, my Mom loves scratch tickets. However, I am not a fan of giving flowers. They just cost way to much for their limited life span. However, I am one that will make them out of paper and they will last forever. Trust me, if you gift someone paper flowers they will be in awe. In addition to paper flowers, I also found a video on how to make origami butterflies. No adhesive is needed to put these together, but I used just a little bit to hold the point down since I was putting them on wire.

Let’s get to the project. I could try to type up instructions for the flowers and butterflies, but that would take me weeks or months to do, lol. So instead I will direct you to a couple of links that are very easy to follow.

I’ll admit, this wasn’t super easy to put together. However, once you get the hang of it, they come together very easily.

What I will tell you about flowers and butterflies that I made is the following.

Butterflies:

The smaller one I used a 4 ½”x 4 ½” piece of origami paper and for the larger one I used a piece of 6”x6” piece of origami paper. You can use any paper you like, I think they would look really neat with pretty designer series paper.

Flowers:

The smaller one, each petal is made with a piece of 3”x3” piece of paper. You can’t tell what type of paper I used here, but this is another reason why I love making paper flowers. I used an old Idea Book and Catalog from Stampin’ Up!, time to up-cycle! Each flower takes five petals.

The larger flower I used pages from the book the The Tao of Pooh. I am a Winnie the Pooh fan and believe it or not, I

have about five copies of this book. So the older paperback went into making flowers!

To finish off the flowers I die cut some leaves from Stampin’ Up!’s Leaflets Framelets and Rose Garden Thinlits. The top of the smaller flowers have ½” circle punched out of Calypso Coral card stock and an embellishment (yikes I don’t remember where I got that from, but any will do). The top of the larger flower has a ¾” circle punched out of Calypso Coral card stock and a retired Stampin’ Up! embellishment. Like stated earlier any embellishment will work, even a large pearl or rhinestone.

Lastly, I decorated the vase with some ribbon and a tag.

Tag:

The tag base is a piece of 1¾”x3” Very Vanilla card stock. The next layer is a piece of 1½”x2¾” Petal Pink card stock. For both pieces I used the tag corner punch from Stampin’ Up! (retired).

Then from the Forever Blossoms stamp set, I stamped two of the smaller flower stamp and two of the double leaf stamp. Again, I colored these using Stampin’ Up!’s Water Color pencils and blended them with Stampin’ Up!’s blender pens. I die cut these out using the coordinating dies from the Cherry Blossoms Die set.

The sentiment also came from April’s 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit Sentimental Rose. I stamped the words in Momento black ink onto Sahara Sand card stock. This was then punched out using Stampin’ Up!’s Classic Label Punch.

I punched a hole in the top and ran some twine through the hole. I then attached this to the vase using a piece of Peekaboo Peach ruched ribbon.

Stampin' Friends Blog Hop - Babies!

Now for my projects, this month I choose to focus on babies. I've been meaning to try my hand at making a teepee which I had found on Pinterest quite some time ago. And what a better way to do this, than to make it as a party favor for a baby shower!

Here are my projects:

I used Stampin' Up!'s stamp set A Little Wild, aren't these just the cutest! The following is the recipes and some instructions of how they came together.

GREETING CARD

SUPPLIES

Stamp Set: A Little Wild

Paper: Whisper White, Soft Seafoam, and Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Series Paper

Ink/Coloring Medium: Momento Black, Crushed Curry and colored pencils

Accessories: Little Loves Framelits, Circles Collection Framelits and Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.

INSTRUCTIONS

Card base is 11" x 8 1/2" Soft Seafoam card stock.
The next layer is a piece of Whisper White card stock, 4 1/8"x5 3/8". I then used the circle framelit sized 3 5/8" and die cut out 3/4 of the circle towards the right hand side. This then gets passed through the Big Shot with the Pinewood 3D Embossing folder.
Cut a piece of the Twinkle Twinkle DSP to cover up the circle I cut.
On a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock I stamped the bear (both front and back), bee hive and some flowers. I colored them in with pencils and die cut them out to decorate the circle.
On a piece of 7/8"x2 1/2" Whisper White card stock, I stamped the words and some bees. To give is some contrast, I sponged the edges with Crushed Curry Ink.
Also, I used snail for everything except the words and the bear, they are attached with dimensionals.

Now how could I make a card with the "A Little Wild" stamp set and not use both sides. So, as you can see in the photo, I mimicked the outside of the card on the inside of the card, so I could put the "butt" view of the bear. That will be quite a surprise for the person receiving this card, don't you think.

For my other project other than a card, I tried my hand at a cute teepee that can be used as a party favor for a baby shower or a first birthday!

SUPPLIES

Stamp Set: A Little Wild

Paper: Grey Granite, Whisper White and Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Series Paper

Ink/Coloring Medium: Momento Black and colored pencils

Accessories: Little Loves Framelits, Pyramid Pals Thinlits and large toothpicks

INSTRUCTIONS

I die cut out two pieces of the Pyramid Pals out of Twinkle, Twinkle DSP to create the pyramid box.
Before assembling, I did the following...
I trimmed the point at the top of the pyramid so that the tooth picks had enough space to stick out the top.
On one of the triangles I cut a slit about an inch from the top all the way to the bottom. And I also cut the bottom to the corners so that I could fold back the pieces to make the opening. I lined the opening with a piece of Grey Granite card stock.
I then glued the toothpicks at each angle of the triangle.
Lastly, I glued it all together to make the triangle box.
To decorate the teepee, I stamped one bear and a bee hive and snailed it to front of the teepee in front of the entrance.

If you are going to fill these with candy, I would use repositionable tape to glue the back panel, opposite the door of the teepee.
